AFS Agency / Legal

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

How we handle information you share with AFS Agency, protect your messaging preferences, and respond to privacy requests.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

AFS Agency, identified on this website as Atlantic Financial Services ("we," "us," or "our"), provides insurance and financial planning assistance. This Privacy Policy covers information handled through afsagency.net, its public Property & Casualty pages, website inquiries and chat, and our text messaging program, including SMS consent authorizations collected through our backend customer e-sign process.

Insurers, external agent portals, and other linked services may provide their own privacy notices. Additional insurance privacy notices may apply to an application or policy relationship. This policy does not replace those notices.

2. Information we collect

  • Information you provide: your name, email address, phone number, location, preferred contact method and time, coverage interests, and the contents of inquiries or messages.
  • Service information: details you choose to provide about your insurance needs, requested quotes, appointments, or existing coverage when working with our team.
  • Chat information: conversation content, contact details you submit, and a session identifier used to maintain conversation history.
  • SMS and e-sign consent records: your electronically signed SMS authorization, the enrolled mobile number, the applicable policy or service and authorized message categories, opt-in status, and associated consent records. These may include the date and method of signing, the disclosure version accepted, signing audit information, and messaging, delivery, help, and opt-out records.
  • Technical information: information made available when you access the website, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, and operational or security logs.

3. How we use information

We use information to respond to inquiries, connect you with an agent, assist with requested insurance services, coordinate appointments, provide customer support, maintain conversation history, operate and secure our website, and comply with legal or regulatory obligations.

We use your contact preferences and consent records to manage permitted communications and document your choices. Our recurring policy-service texts are sent only to customers who have provided SMS-specific e-sign consent, and only for the policy or service and message categories authorized. Customer-service consent does not authorize promotional texts; those require separate express written marketing consent. Customer status or providing a phone number alone is not consent to recurring or marketing texts.

4. When information is disclosed

For services you request, relevant information may be provided to authorized agency personnel, agents, or insurers involved in assisting you, subject to applicable law and the SMS restrictions below. Insurers handle submitted application information under their own privacy notices.

We use service providers for website hosting, inquiry management, communications, electronic signatures, and automated chat processing. They may process information needed to perform those services on our behalf. Chat content may be processed by an AI service provider to generate responses; avoid entering sensitive information.

We may disclose information when required by law or valid legal process, or as necessary to protect legal rights, safety, and website security. These disclosures do not authorize another party to use your mobile number or SMS consent for marketing.

5. Mobile information and SMS privacy

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your mobile number or text messaging opt-in data and consent to third parties or affiliates for their own use.

All other information-sharing categories in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties for their independent use. Limited access is permitted only for service providers acting on our behalf, such as messaging platforms, telecommunications providers, and customer-support providers, solely as necessary to operate and deliver the AFS Agency messaging program and not for their own marketing. SMS consent is not shared with insurers or other agents to enroll you in their messaging programs.

Our recurring policy-service SMS program is available only to customers who affirmatively opt in by electronically signing an SMS-specific authorization through our backend customer onboarding or policy-servicing process. Website inquiries do not enroll you in this program. An insurance application, Medicare Scope of Appointment, enrollment authorization, HIPAA authorization, or general permission to contact alone does not substitute for SMS consent.

Messages are limited to the authorized policy or service and disclosed message categories, such as renewal reminders, policy updates, appointment reminders, and customer support. Policy-specific consent is not used for unrelated policies, services, or promotional texts. Promotional messaging requires separate express written consent and is not part of this policy-service program. Message frequency varies based on your authorized policy or service, appointments, renewal dates, and support requests. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. You may receive one final opt-out confirmation, after which no further SMS messages will be sent unless you opt in again. Reply HELP for assistance, email insurance@afsagency.net, or call (717) 579-3687. Consent is not a condition of purchase, and declining SMS does not affect your insurance purchase. See our SMS Terms of Service for additional details.

6. Cookies and browser storage

The website and its services may use cookies or similar storage for operational functions such as authentication, security, and session continuity. Our chat feature uses browser session storage to retain a chat session identifier and conversation history during your session.

You can manage cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Restricting or clearing storage may affect sign-in or chat continuity. Clearing browser history does not necessarily delete information already submitted to our systems; contact us to request deletion.

7. Retention and security

We retain information as needed to respond to requests, provide services, maintain required business and insurance records, document consent, honor opt-outs, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. This includes retaining the electronically signed SMS authorization and associated consent evidence for the applicable retention period. Retention depends on the record type and applicable requirements. Limited suppression records may be retained to prevent further messages after an opt-out.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No website, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Do not send Social Security numbers, payment information, medical records, or other sensitive documents through ordinary contact forms, chat, or SMS; ask our team for an appropriate submission method.

8. Your choices and privacy requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask about our information practices, by contacting us below. Depending on where you live and applicable exemptions, you may have additional rights to restrict processing, obtain a copy of information, or appeal a privacy-request decision. We may need to verify your identity, and some records must be retained by law.

You may withdraw SMS consent by replying STOP or contacting us. For other promotional communications, use any unsubscribe instructions provided or contact our team. You can request assistance by phone or email without consenting to text messages.

9. Children and external websites

Our website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this website. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information so we can address it. Our SMS program is for individuals age 18 or older.

Links to insurer websites, social media, maps, or external portals are provided for convenience. Their operators control their own data collection and privacy practices; review their notices before providing information.

10. Policy updates

We may update this policy to reflect changes in services, practices, or legal requirements. The effective date above identifies the current version. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for material changes. A policy update does not authorize new uses of SMS consent or enrollment in additional messaging programs.
